Character Analysis
Assignment: Your assignment is to write a character analysis. After reading the story, look and think closely about the character about which you will write.
Cover Page: Name, date, mod. Include a creative title.
Introduction: In the first paragraph you will introduce the character. Include the plot idea or a little about the character. Include the title, genre, and author of the story.
Thesis Statement: The thesis statement will be the last sentence of your introductory paragraph. The thesis tells what the focus of your essay will be. It should include the character's name and at least three character traits.
MODEL THESIS: Throughout the story, Squeaky's imaginative, frank, and determined personality help her succeed in life and cope with more responsibility than a young girl should have. This is a good thesis because it shows the reader that the first body paragraph will be about Squeaky's imagination, the second body paragraph will be about her frankness, and the third body paragraph will be about her determination.
BAD THESIS: In this essay, I will show you how Squeaky is . . . or Squeaky is imaginative, frank, and determined. Never write "In this essay" or "You"

You will do the same for Body Paragraph #2 and #3.
